Psyllium is a plant that is increasingly used for its properties. The term ‘psyllium’ is used to indicate that the plant belongs to the Plantaginaceae family, and it comes mainly from India. The part of the plant that is used is the outer shell, or husk, of mature seeds.
PSYLLIUM’S PROPERTIES: Psyllium is naturally rich in mucilages, soluble fibres concentrated in its seed husks, which, by forming a gel which promotes normal volume and consistency of the stool. It has a prebiotic effect, so it selectively promotes the growth and activity of one or more bacteria already present in the intestinal tract.
99% PURITY: Psyllium can be found in various grades of purity, depending on the percentage of impurities present. Usually psyllium husk is marketed with a purity of around 95-98%.
